 Editorials, anecdotes, and commentary. |
ronald_mcpump writes "ive been a pumper for about 7 months now and if its one thing ive notticed in the change was the experience. before i turned pump i had an e-bladed gen-x 3, about 13 bps and all that seemed to atter was guts. i noticed that anyone shooting over 5 could kill anyhting and everything with the guts. playing a pump is just amazing. it enhances any experience with paintball u could ever imagine. every single little detail in paintball means som much more. the fact that you have one shot to eleminate the 30 bps marker makes the game mean so much more. when im the only pump player at the field it makes me feel good because i know that i have a chance to stand out and show people how good i am.(not to be bragging) i reccomend pumps to everyone i meet and will always continue to do so."

Title : The OSC Returns to Hawaii 2006

ladyattitude writes "The Old School Challenge returned to Oahu, Hawaii for the 6th installment of the 06 series. Oahu provides the best climate for paintball and Allstar Paintball Games is the perfect field for paintball play semi or pump. The OSC has taken on some great new territory for pump play but the series return to Hawaii has been an important accomplishment this year. It shows the series is really interested in the growth of pump play and is willing to take the games to anywhere there is a solid base. Hawaii has a solid pump base.
The event started with the blessing ceremony that put the staff and players in the right frame of mind. The competition was a wicked HOT this year the local Hawaiian teams poured on the skill and hammered the fav mainland teams. Not to be out done, the series favorite teams showed up for finals and brought their “A” game. When the dust settled the Hawaiian teams walked away with First Place in the 3Player and the TOP GUN Competition.
If you are a pump player that enjoys a challenge the TOP GUN is for you. This is the most fun to watch and to play than you will ever experience. Join the OSC in 2007 as the top gun will take center stage in final 2007 event: Hawaii 07.

Title : Northwest Pump Players Reunion

oregonballa1 writes "The Northwest Pump Players (formerly The Oregon Pump Players Group) ascended on War Paint International in Salem, Oregon for its reunion of monthly meetings. This month we had a fair amount of players, Twenty-two in all. When I showed up to the field, I was greeted by owner/operator Dan Bonebrake. Dan, and his staff are very excited to help our group to grow, which is what I feel that we need to do. Everyone in our group was happy to meet halfway between Eugene, Or. And Portland Or. For our meeting. We began playing at around 10:30 and played as many elimination games as we could. War Paint International is the biggest indoor field in Oregon. The field has a great mix for pump players, with buildings, sandbag bunkers, a little hyper ball tubing, and a soft sawdust floor. The field is kind of like an old western town with some exciting obstacles. I and some other players were very impressed with the upgrades that have been made to the field and staging area. The staging area has a renewed look with the addition of an awesome backdrop for group photos. The pro shop was stocked with many used pump markers and a nice assortment of other items. We wrapped up play at around 4:00 and everyone made their journey towards home. I would like to thank all the players that attended. Everyone came and left with a great attitude. Myself, and everyone else had a great time. I also would like to thank Dan Bonebrake and his staff at War Paint International for providing us with a clean, safe environment and a nice place to assemble. I am already busy planning our next meeting and will be posting more info soon.

Title : OSC goes North

 Paintball events. |
ladyattitude writes "The Old School Challenge was welcomed by Northern California Pumpers
recently. The OSC WAP Extra Event was offered for the first time ever and the
teams responded. 17 teams almost all from Nor Cal proved that they knew how pump
worked as they kicked it into high gear and brought some serious competition to
Wild Adventure Paintball (Zamora. CA).
If you have not been to WAP I recommend it highly the fields are superb the
staff very nice and professional and the field is family run and operated. www.wildadventurepaintball.com
You pump players missed out big if you didn't take this trip. As always Brick
turned out an allstar line up. Phil Dominguez recruited Johnny Perchek and Marty
Bush and if you don't know these players take paintball 101 again. The OSC was
glad to welcome Mr. Glenn Palmer (one of my heroes) from Palmer Pursuit Shop as
well as pbmafia.com and Chipley was hand in the Vendor area. Lots of really hot
gear and great new stuff too.
When the dust settled Jesus, etc. found themselves in first place overall
beating some huge favorite competition teams. Deviants found themselves in
finals and performed very well at this event. This team is just getting started.
As for LA Hitmen and Brick, these teams were wicked hot and just got nudged out
in finals.

Title : 5-Player Event-Saturday July 29, 2006 Event #3

 Paintball events. |
ladyattitude writes "Splatfactory Indoor field was the OSC's first night game and rounded out the last of the 5player Series for 2006. It has been a tough series but has yielded the most competition from the teams. The 5 Player has proven to be the best format for these teams and they have shaped the future of the OSC Elite series for 2007.
The indoor format proved to be a great environment for the teams. This is a straight forward game as the teams battled it out in the center court. The series championship was on the line and the top teams were separated by mere points. It would come down to placement of the top 2 teams that led the series Hard Eight and Hundredth Hammer.
The LA Hitmen lead the pack and finished with a 772 victory and out of 800 points that is a pretty powerful score. LA Hitmen are a superior team if you want to see Pump Greatness watch this team. DragonFire Red really put on the pressure and I think next season we will see a lot more growth from this team. The Splat Factory team is always pretty consistent but I think the last few months have been a struggle but I do see them coming back together to round off their 3player standings. Hard Eight took the series championship this season proving that they are always a force to reckon with.
I would like to see more of Aggravated Assault in the 5player arena. I think that they can put on a lot more pressure than they did at this event and I think the 5player format is great for them. Omega Sector has had some great improvements this season and I think some small tweaks is all they need to find their footing. No matter how this team ends up they are still a great personality and a very hungry team. One of my favorite teams is Who Flung Goo. They have traveled with us a lot this season and I have to give them mad props for being what the OSC is all about. Next season will see some more new teams and I hope the expansion of the 5player will bring more teams to the table. 5player is a great step up from 3player as far as teams skills and I think the next evolution for many of the OSC teams.
Final Event Standings
1st LA Hitmen
2nd Dragon Fire Red
3rd SplatFactory
